Worms can do wonders for the garden: they aerate the soil and their castings are an excellent fertilizer. To ensure a steady supply of this worm fertilizer as well as more worms for the garden, start a worm farm.
Use Red Worms or Tiger Worms only (in most nurseries). The common garden worm is not suitable.
System Setup
Worm farms are simple structures that can be done. They consist of three or four stackable crates or containersPlastic, wood or other light weight and waterproof. The worms live in the garbage and simply wriggle their way from the lowest bin in the top where the fresh food, fruit, vegetables and other waste that otherwise might miss the smell. These messages are so turned on that in the jets to make good fertilizer. Some common worm farms to sell at a price of $ 50 to $ 75 for four subjects.
The bin base has a solid plan for capturing run-off liquid from seepingtank top, and, preferably, a water tap near the base. By tilting the liquid waste through the stack can be downloaded via the tap without removing the top container.
The tank top is perforated to allow the worm through the soil to reach food fresh. These "holey" containers lock together and are deep enough to make room for the worms to move about without leaving bruises.
To create congenial living conditions for the worms, you need newspaper and soilStart the Farm and a continuous supply of suitable food scraps.
Start the Worm Farm
Based on fit'm an upper limit (with holes) # 1, who was with a few leaves of shredded newspaper and a few handfuls of earth lined bin. Spray lightly with cold water. Add the red or tiger worms, together with a small amount of food scraps. Exclude light from the bin by bin top and keep it moist with a newspaper or other Hessian. Leave for a few in courtWeeks before lifting the lid and putting in more food scraps. Check'm progress and add more food scraps as the worms grow and multiply. Make sure the worms have enough to eat, but do not feed them - simply rotting food not consumed, leading to a courtyard and stinking miserable worms.
When I returned to No. 1 is about half full of worms and humus, or city to remove the newspaper and Hessian bin # 2 holes on top. Put food scraps in bin # 2 and again exclude light and keep theThe content is moist. In about a week the worms from bin # 1 is transferred to fresh food have in bin # 2, leaving humus that can be spread on the garden.
